Rock Climbing

Eldorado Canyon  •  The Flatirons  •  Red Rocks

Eldorado Canyon, Colorado

"Eldo" as most locals know it, is only 10 minutes from my house, and is what I  consider my home crag. I first climbed in this magical area, just outside of Boulder, Colo., over ten years ago and instantly fell in love with the complex, committing nature of its sandstone walls.

With short approaches and many summits to achieve, Eldorado Canyon has something special to offer climbers of all abilities.

The Flatirons, towering over Boulder, Colo., are a unique climbing venue with the front (east) faces being slabby and generally very run out. The west and north flanks offer overhanging sport climbing with huge holds and some of the best friction rock you will find.

The two key venues for climbing the Flatirons are the First and Third Flatirons. The First Flatiron can be characterized as friction climbing with sparse protection, while the Third Flatiron has much larger holds and often offers better gear. Both climbs summit the formations and offer amazing views of the Boulder area to the east and the Indian Peaks to the west. If you are looking for a fun day out with the family or want to lead these amazing climbs I can help you accomplish your goal.

Red Rock Canyon, Nevada

Every spring and fall, I base myself in "Sin City" (Las Vegas, Nevada) for a couple of weeks of AMGA guide training. Generally, on the front or backside of these trips I am available to work with guests in this amazing rock climbing venue. Red Rocks is one of the biggest rock climbing areas in North America and maybe the world. With all grades of sport and multi-pitch climbing, this area has routes for everyone.

Just outside of Las Vegas, you will find wild hikes up dry creek beds that take you from the Mojave Desert into a very localized micro-climate where you can find bighorn sheep and frogs living off of water pools in the narrow sandstone canyons. Whether you want to tick Epinephrine or just have a fun day out on Can N' The Hat I can make sure your day (or three) is one to remember!
